Last night Ali and I decided to treat ourselves to dinner and a movie after a nice bonus from my boss. We didn’t want to go anywhere near our local movie theater which is attached to a mall. So we decided to go to our favorite movie theater downtown. After a quick discussion we (I) decided on Mexican food and we both agreed on seeing Juno.
Dinner was very good. We were seated in a kind of secluded spot so it was like our own private restaurant and we could be as obnoxious and silly as we wanted. In other words, be ourselves.
This was the first time this week we actually got to stop, slow down and just talk. Ali told me all about her first week at the new office, how much she (and everyone else) loves it. I’m very happy for her. After the year we had last year she is so happy at this job. She loves everyone she works with, and I never hear her complain about it. That’s rare once the initial glow of a new job wears off. And the even better thing is that they love her back. But honestly, how could they not? And she totally deserves it.
Today we are going to do some cleaning, and some running around. We need to pick up some stuff for a party at Ali’s Nanny’s tonight, which will be fun. Most of her family will be there from Louisiana who we haven’t seen since Ali’s grandmother’s 75th birthday in April. Well, Ali saw them at one of Sarah’s baby showers, I guess.
Tomorrow is a lazy day. We decided to do something, but I can’t remember for the life of me. Monday for Christmas Eve we go to Ali’s mother’s house, and popping in at Kristen to see the Bearden clan.
I’m sure Ali will want to open presents as midnight strikes. We’ll see if I’ll cave this year and let her. I know I can’t wait to give her the gifts I bought. Seriously can’t wait. It’s killing me seeing them under the tree for the past 2 weeks without being able to give them to her.
I can’t wait to see her smiling face. Thursday we leave for a quick visit in New Jersey with a tight schedule but we going to be able to squeeze in a quick visit with Heather and Andrew who we haven’t seen in almost a year. Merry Christmas, everyone!  Be safe.
